This, that and ol' happy day!

My beautiful girl has been back to the hospital for more testing and what slips a person's mind while using the term 'testing' is all the garbage that one little girl must endure while trying to accomplish a test. Apparently, Eme has itty bitty tiny veins that make drawing blood and hooking her up to an IV nothing short of an hour long drama of restraining and crying...my God the tears...
The test didn't go well because the IV was a disaster and by the time we arrived at the nuclear med dept, my girl was mentally shot and terrified. The misery continued for another 30 minutes where I peeled myself off of her from trying to restrain her for the 45 minute long test and said, "we're done" after 25 minutes. I tried. I really did. I wanted the test to be completed because I can not put her through that again. I don't think they got what they needed, they told me in so many words, but I'm hoping they can tell me a little glimmer of hope of what's going on inside her.
& the icing on the cake to this already fabulous day...
my backup hard drive broke, so I spent all day yesterday prying it open to get the hard drive out and hooked it up to everything....long story short, ALL 10,000 of my photos and videos are in this one little black box that doesn't seem to be retrievable. The guru's think a driver inside the black box is broke and my next best option is to check with a diagnostic recovery guru. My brain is seriously fried. That includes all of Eme's China pictures, her first months home, her first Halloween, her first Thanksgiving, her first Christmas, New Year and her 2nd Birthday...our first year with her. My whole body shuts down when I think about the data not being able to be recovered. Tell me there is God!?!....
& for all you that haven't seen the most handsome boy around...check out my friends new little man! What a handsome boy he is and I couldn't be happier for them! What a long wait it's been for them.

Sorry to hear about Eme's testing and your hard drive. Our hard drive fried a few years ago (overheated) and we were able to retrieve the majority of the data ourselves by purchasing a product called GetDataBack - maybe that will work for you. Good luck.

The word 'testing' makes my skin crawl - especially for your eme.

We had the same thing happen to our hard drive not too long ago - they were able to recover most everything. I took the entire computer into the Geek Squad and they found 90% of my pictures. It is an awful, sickening feeling. And my heart is out there for you. After the 'recovery' I went right out and bought an external hard drive...my pictures are in 2 places now. I still get freaked out at times when there's a glitch in my computer.

*hoping*

Oh, I am so, SO sorry. The Tongginator has horrible veins, too (they call them preemie veins). It's never fun to go for blood draws.

The last time we experienced that, a nurse told me to insist on butterfly needles and to also ask for a diaper. She told me to heat the diaper with hot water, then place it on the Tongginator's arm to help "plump" up the veins and then the smaller butterfly needle should help even more. It worked well for us the next time, so it's something to consider trying.

As for your hard drive troubles... ugh. I am SO sorry.

I am so sorry that Eme has such a hard time with the needles. I can absolutely sympathize, as I STILL have preemie veins, but at least I am an adult and can understand why I am being painfully poked and prodded, poor, baby. I hope that you get the answers that you need.

As far as your hard drive goes, I have faith that you'll be able to get back most of what you have lost. Today will be a better day!

Please INSIST that a pediatric nurse start all IVS from now on. I am a pedi nurse and have been asked many times to go to different departments to start them. We, too, lost our hardrive with Claire's adoption pics and first yr home. I am still devestated. I have inquired of our travel mates so send what they have with us in it. We have our video and travel site. My heart is hurting for you and your precious girl. I hate this for you both.

I am so sorry to hear about Eme's hard time with the "testing". It's horrible!!! I just hate it for her (and for you).

My guts clinched up reading about your pictures! I hope that you can get them back. We just lost a total of 6 mos of pictures with a computer change. It was awful. I still want to cry over it.

So so sorry for sweet Eme's horrible experience at the hospital. Maddy cannot even watch a show that has anything to do with hospitals. She started crying and was terried at Alvin and Chipmunks Squickwell (sp?) because Dave was hurt and in the hospital. I had to go and read books with her in her room while Daddy and Sissy watched the movie.

So sorry to hear about your hard drive too. We have our photos on the same kind of "black box". thinking maybe we should put them on more than one perhaps. Hopefully someone can retrieve the precious memories for you!

Regarding the newest little man.. is he the bomb or what!!!!

I feel so terrible for Miss E and for you. I can't even imagine how horrible. Both of you are in my thoughts.

So sorry to read about the computer issue. I hope they can salvage your pictures.

That little guy is pretty dang cute, if I do say myself! ;o)

Keeping your sweet girl in my prayers.

One word about your back up for the future. MOZY Look into Mozy.com. I back up on that in addition to the external. They are cheap and you never have to worry again.

hugs!

Yay! You told them "we're done"! I am very happy. I love telling them that. More often that not, they live with it or offer you options.

I am genuinely sorry, however, about your hard drive.
