The rumors going around that the CCAA may stop all referrals and TA's for 20-30 days due to the Swine flu is leaving me a mess. A mess. I did speak to my agency, to which they told me not to worry, that they have received no word about this happening....however, other (non US) agencies are sending out written confirmation that this is happening. How can this be happening??? Have we not had enough road bumps on this journey??? This just can't be happening, I can't handle the stress, the pressure, the anxiety, another damn roadblock. I wanted my baby girl home yesterday.
In fact, I wanted her home on March 7, 2008...the day she was born. We've waited long enough to be together, neither one of us should have had to wait till she was 13 months old for our referral day. We were were ready at her legal 6 month age! We've had to renew more paperwork than I care to imagine & now if this rumor proves to be true, what will happen to our Visas that are set for May 14th? Somebody tell me why she isn't already here!?!?!
Just look at that face....the thought of her growing up another day or another month without me is more than my heart can handle.

Oh my friend.... WHY all of this at the same time? I am so sorry...I wish I could take away some of this pain and stress for you. I pray that this really isn't the case....
My heart broke a little when I heard your reaction to this. The words stuck in my throat and I just couldn't even say anything at first. I'm so very sorry this is happening. There's really nothing at all that will comfort you today... except maybe knowing how loved you are and that if your friends could fix this for you, we would. I'm here if you need me.

I am right there with you. We are adopting from Russia. Our little referral was born 1/24/08, and our call was 2/25/09 (at 13 months). We have to take 2 trips, and we still don't have dates for the first trip to meet her! It's been 2 months since that call, and I know this possible pandemic is going to slow things down even more!!! Why is traveling so darn complicated? So frustrating!

Here is the letter posted on RQ girl. It kind of looks like it's saying 2 things at once, that it will be up to you and your agency... AND that they will postpone travel, but then it says or implies they WON'T by saying if you feel sick in China you need to go to the hospital and see a doctor. Clear as mud. I copied and pasted it for you.
Adoption agencies:
Currently there are cases of human infection of the swine flu found in some countries and regions. With the high infectivity of this disease, children are susceptible to it for their low resistance. In order to avoid cross infection during the process of adoption registration and protect the health of children in orphanages as well as the adoptive parents, we hereby announce that:
Adoption agencies are required to counsel the adoptive parents who have received Notice of Coming to China for Adoption to postpone their trip to China for the registration procedure.
The validity period of Notice of Coming to China for Adoption issued between March 1 to April 30 this year is prolonged from three months to five months (There is no need to update the paper).
Adoptive families are advised to follow the arrangement of local registration authorities and cooperate during the entrustment of child for the harmony period and the adoption registration process.
If adoptive parents feel unwell during their stay in China for the registration procedure, they shall go to the hospital for medical checkup in time and report to CCAA about relevant situation.

Hi,
We are waiting for our Travel Apprival to come through, and were expecting it this week or next. Our daughters share the same birthday of March 7/08, but our daughter is in Guangxi.
Our agency says we will have to wait until Tuesday (after the long weekend in China) to see what will happen. They feel it will all depend on if the outbreak is contained or continues to progress.
